Mezzo-Soprano

Canadian mezzo-soprano Carolyn Sproule most recently returned to the Metropolitan Opera to sing Dorabella in Phelim McDermott's production of Così fan Tutte conducted by Harry Bicket. Upcoming appearances include the title role in Carmen at Houston Grand Opera, Pacific Opera Victoria, Hong Kong Opera, and the Savonlinna Opera Festival, as well as Dorabellla in Così fan Tutte at English National Opera, La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi and La Zelatrice in Suor Angelica with San Diego Opera, and Pauline in Pique Dame at Des Moines Metro Opera. Ms. Sproule's recent performance highlights include Olga in Eugene Onegin at Opéra de Montréal; her European debut singing Erika in Samuel Barber's Vanessa at the Wexford Festival; Maddalena in Rigoletto for her Canadian Opera Company debut in a Christopher Alden production. In 2019, she was the recipient of a George London Foundation award. Ms. Sproule received degrees from the Juilliard School of Music and Rice University.
