The Cultural and Performing Arts Center presents Opera Naples young performers in the first concert of the season for the CAPA Rising Stars Series on Friday, April 8. Members of the Opera Naples’ Student Apprentice Program present a program of classical songs, folk songs, arias, operetta and musical theater starting at 7:30 p.m. in The David and Cecile Wang Opera Center.
The Student Apprentice Program gives local students ages 7-21 training and public performance opportunities through Opera Naples’ main stage productions and the professional company’s various community outreach events. Private vocal coaching and chorus training are provided as well as group master classes. There is no cost to participants who are selected through an audition and interview.
The CAPA Rising Star Series continues with:
¦ 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 22: Pianist Noah Waddell with the Kapella Chamber Group – Now 14, Noah Waddell began playing the piano shortly after his seventh birthday and won his first international piano competition in 2014 in Fort Collins, Colo. At age 12, he made his orchestral debut performing three concerts as a soloist with the Tampa Bay Symphony. He recently performed with the Coral Gables Chamber Symphony and Gulf Coast Symphony to standing ovations.
Kapella Chamber Group is composed of four leading members of the Artis-Naples Youth Orchestra: Noelle Torres, Luciano Marsalli, Cassie Drake and Bridget Denze. Individually, these young artists have received top awards in local competitions, including Naples Music Club, Opera Naples, Southwest Florida Bach Festival, Southwest Florida Symphony Concerto Competition and Artis-Naples Youth Concerto Competition.
7:30 p.m. Friday, May 6: Naples Philharmonic Youth Chorus – This 100-voice chorus of elementary, middle school and high school singers us under the direction of James Cochran.
The CAPA Rising Stars Series concerts all take place at the David and Cecile Wang Opera Center, 2408 Linwood Ave. Tickets are $30 for adults, $10 for students and children, $40 for VIP seating including a meet-the-artist reception.
