Opera Naples has started a new campaign to raise $4 million for shows, education and more.
The three-year Campaign ON will help Opera Naples pay for productions, retire its short-term debt and expand its Naples headquarters (home of the 266-seat Wang Center performance space).
The nonprofit opera company announced the campaign Wednesday, but the fundraising effort actually started with a “quiet phase” in July 2015, according to an Opera Naples press release. The campaign has already raised $1.4 million.
“Over the course of the next three years, we’re challenging individuals in our community to give back to an arts program that has benefited them in so many ways,” said John Hushon, board chairman of Opera Naples.
Opera Naples is in the middle of its 11th season. The company produces operas, concerts and dance performances, including an upcoming production of the Verdi opera “La Traviata” on March 18 and 20 at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort at Tiburon in Naples.
