The Friends of Opera Naples (FON) is a corps of volunteers who donate their time and skills to assist in many ways that are essential to the smooth operations of the opera company.
For many, it is a wonderful opportunity to go behind the scenes, meet cast members and experience the life of a theatrical operation first hand, while knowing they are helping to keep opera alive in their community.
Friends volunteers choose how they wish to become more closely involved. For example, some act as ushers during shows, provide hospitality for performers, are cast drivers, assist backstage with props and costumes, or are important support behind the scenes of the company’s annual gala.
Friends members are identified by membership badges and are recognized with at an end-of-season party. Those who have donated the most number of hours during a season are singled out for special appreciation from the company. But most important is the spirit of camaraderie that is fostered by this group who hold several gatherings and impromptu social events of their own during the season.
Members are asked to make a donation of $50 per year to cover administrative costs and organizational expenses.
For more information, please contact the Friends President, Bronwen Adams at (239) 435-1401.
