2019 Resident Artists Program
January 18 – February 23, 2019 for Residency
April 13 – April 25, 2019 for Carmen

We will be selecting four artists: soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor, and baritone.
What productions will involve the Resident Artists?
Carmen by Georges Bizet (Frasquita, Mercédès, Le Remendado, Le Dancaïre)
L’isola disabitata by Joseph Haydn (Silvia, Costanza, Gernando, Enrico)
The above productions will be conducted by Maestro Ramón Tebar. Carmen will be performed at Artis-Naples with the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra. L’isola disabitata will be performed at the Wang Opera Center with orchestra. Resident Artists will also perform roles in a school educational tour and perform in various community outreach concerts and performances.
Who are the Resident Artists?
Resident Artists are emerging professionals who participate in an artistically challenging residency program with Opera Naples. They receive training as well as perform in mainstage productions, in-school programs, and community outreach concerts and events.
How are Resident Artists compensated?
A weekly stipend of $400, a travel stipend, and housing will be provided over the course of the residency. Artists must have their own vehicle while in Naples for the residency period in January-February, 2019. Opera Naples will not be responsible for local transportation needs during the residency. A $500 performance stipend is provided for Carmen. Local transportation and housing during the production period in April is provided.

Selected applicants may be asked to give a live audition in Naples.
